Metablogging

The prefix “meta-” loosely means “about itself.”  For instance ( and probably metformin er 500mg side effects not entirely accurately), metacommunication is communicating about how we communicate–basically half of my undergraduate studies.  Metaemotion is how I am feeling when I talk about my emotions on Therapy Thursdays–today, confused.  Metablogging is blogging about blogging–as found below

What spurred on this quickie is the fact that I’ve been working on a lengthy blog post about what’s been going on in my life since 8:45 Wednesday morning.  Between work, social obligations, and being the least succinct person in Minnesota, it’s taking me a while to write it.  As I look at it I think, “Jeez, that’s a long hummer.”  The visual aid, of course, is that it’s one thin column down the middle of a computer screen, rather than a glossy page with three columns and “continued on page 17″ at the bottom right-hand corner.

The metablogging made me think of the the name of one of my favorite blogs: “The Sneeze – Half zine. Half blog. Half not good with fractions.” Oh, Steve of The Sneeze, I’ll not rip you off, but I’ll rue the fact that you nabbed that lovely subtitle…especially considering my math disability.

But, I will happily acknowledge that Shifting Piles will take the same approach to blogging.  Some posts may be shorter while  some may be continued on page 17.

The next chapter–I mean post–should be up in a couple of hours on Shifting Piles.  In the meanwhile, check out The Sneeze.  It’s always good for a laugh.
