Day 23 – Life in the Fast Lane

Today was metformin hydrochloride the third day of my fast.  I’ve been breaking reflexive eating behaviors while flushing my system with water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup.  All in all, I would say it was an excellent day.  Having spent all of it at home, it was an interesting day of overcoming challenges that I mentioned yesterday.  Redirecting myself became easier, but I almost had myself talked into eating  a pudding cup around 3:00 this afternoon.  I did, in fact, succumb to eating the contents of a Taco Bell sauce packet…and half a packet of soy sauce.

I.  Needed.  Salt.

Well, I don’t know if I needed salt.  I certainly craved it.  And, considering I’d been existing on the lemonade, coffee, and gum for tastes, I was tired of sweet.  Salt seemed like a pretty good idea and, since it wasn’t solid or considered caloric, I gave myself a “pass.”

Oh, was it good.  It was so flavorful.  I think I cooed.

So, yes.  A success.

Tomorrow, I plan to be working at home as well but also plotting the next step in my journey.  I’m going to research post-WLS diets to see if it would be feasible for me to try to follow one as well…though I’m over 15 years post-WLS.  I don’t know what I’ll find.  But, I do know that I’ve got to maintain a distance from food and keep my calories low in order to continue with this weight loss progress.

It’s kind of nice to say those words: Weight loss progress.

Rah.
